Standing Up!

Isei and I just heard about the upcoming Big Love episode where they are going to depict actual temple ceremonies. I was first appalled and trying to figure out what I could do for what I believe in and know is the truth. It seems the LDS church has been under fire for standing up for the core values. As I continued to look at different sites and considered different ways I could do something I thought I should look at what the church has said about the matter. There press release was so calming and helped me know what is important as a member of the church. As I finished the press release I thought about the Standard of Truth I used to say each day as a missionary. Here it is...

The standard of truth has been erected. No unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing. Persecutions may rage, mobs may combine, armies may assemble, and calumny may defame, but the truth of God will go forth bodly, nobly and independent, until it has penetrated every continent, visited every clime, swept every country and sounded in every ear, til the purposes of God shall be accomplished and the great Jehovah shall say, the work is done.

The truth will go forward and the Lord will bless us each as we endure and peacefully stand up for what we believe in.

Thank you for that post Mary. My mom and I have been talking about this and I was getting really upset about the disrespect the makers of the show have for things we hold sacred. Your words helped me to gain some perspective on it all.

Isn't it amazing how calm you feel after you read the press release from the church. You know that everything is going to be okay! God will not let anything happen that would hurt us or our gospel :)

Thanks so much Mary! I also received some emails about this episode and it was hard not to get upset when someone is attacking what you hold sacred. Thank you for sharing this wonderful perspective:o)
